Steel Structures and Efficient Solutions for Construction to be Exhibited in Moscow

SteelStructures’2018 the 3d International Exhibition will be held on May 29 – June 1 in Moscow. The event will bring together construction industry leaders and professionals from Russia and abroad, among them manufacturers of steel producs for construction, rolled stock suppliers, equipment distributers, steel structures designers, researchers, as well as steel and aluminium products end-users.

The event will combine the exposition itself exhibiting the most state-of-the-art steel structures, steel products and solutions and the congress part covering the most pressing problems of the industry. Among other events the program includes Steel Structures: Market Structure and Prospects, the All-Russia Conference, as well as roundtables and seminars on use of steel structures in bridge building, use of light-gauge steel structures in construction, safe use of fencing structures, quality control, etc. Various master-classes on steel structures design and corrosion-protection will also be held as part of the exhibition program of events.

4.2Mt of steel structures and their parts were produced in Russia in 2017 (+7.9% as compared to 2016).

Production program of 2018 includes large-scale projects requiring even more steel structures: building of oil refineries, LNG complexes and their infrastructures, 2d line of Lakhta Center in St. Petersburg, Akhmat Tower in Grozny, let alone development of commercial property segment.

The exhibition grows in the number of exhibitors and visitors. Thus in 2017 the number of exhibitors reached 125 (107 in 2016), while the number of visitor exceeded 3.5 professionals. VTZ introduces new technology to improve stainless steel production efficiency

Volzhsky Pipe Plant, a branch of Pipe Metallurgical Company, has introduced a new technology to improve the efficiency of stainless steel production. The innovation helps to recover greater quantities of high-value alloying elements from scrap metal and to utilise raw materials more efficiently. Thanks to the new technology, it has become possible to more effectively recover residual chromium, nickel and molybdenum from high-alloy scrap. The number of "flushing" heats required to clean the furnace and steel casting ladles has also been reduced. The new scheme reduces ferroalloy consumption and improves the profitability of stainless steel rolled products output, as noted by TMK.
