Severstal Steel Solutions Group supplied 42 thousand tons of metal structures for the largest investment project at CherMK

Severstal Steel Solutions Group supplied more than 40 thousand tons of metal structures for the construction of a production complex on the territory of the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant.
As part of the investment project in Cherepovets, the construction of the complex for the production of fired oxidized iron ore pellets (IOPPC) continues — one of the largest facilities on the territory of CherMK. Specifically for it, Severstal Steel Solutions Group produced beams, tie columns, raised floors, roofing panels, and smoke stacks.
“The project has become the most large-scale in the entire history of Severstal Steel Solutions Group. During the work, the requested volume grew more than twofold, which required resource mobilization. In addition, there was a task to optimize timelines and costs, with which we also successfully coped. Now we are moving towards the completion of the supply; at the moment, about 90% of the total volume has been shipped. The process is proceeding according to the established timelines,” commented Dmitry Manakov, Director of Severstal Steel Solutions Group.
Part of the supplied metal structures, in accordance with the project, have a fire-resistant coating applied directly at the production facilities of Severstal Steel Solutions Group. This directly affected the timelines and cost of the products, since applying the coating at the assembly site costs at least three times more.
The investment project for the construction of the pellet production complex at CherMK is aimed at implementing the technology for producing high-quality steel with a low carbon footprint in the Vologda Region. The commissioning of the complex involves changing the technological process of working with iron ore raw materials and pig iron production. The shop's capacity is 10 million tons of pellets per year. Severstal plans to provide its own iron ore raw materials (pellets) for the blast furnace production at CherMK and to decommission a number of operating units that have a negative impact on the environment. The reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as a result of changes in the pig iron production technology will amount to more than 2 million tons per year, and pollutants — 96 thousand tons per year.
Severstal Steel Solutions Group will present its solutions for the steel construction market at the  SteelStructures'2026 exhibition on May 26-28 in Moscow.

MMK-Project Solutions enters the steel structures market

MMK-Project Solutions LLC, a subsidiary of MMK Trading House, has entered the steel structures market. The company's production base is a new mechanical engineering workshop launched in 2025. The facility is equipped with unique machinery capable of performing large-scale and trial assembly of heavy structures — a capability available to only a limited number of market players. The company operates as an aggregator and operator of large-scale projects, placing orders both at MMK's own facilities and through a partner network of steel structure plants.
