“In 2025, our investments in the Cherepovets Steel Mill production site reached a maximum, laying the foundation for the company's resilience in challenging market conditions. Now our task is to flexibly balance between development and financial stability while remaining committed to our strategic priorities,” commented Severstal CEO Alexander Shevelev.
In 2026, Severstal will continue construction of the iron ore pellet production complex — the company's largest and most significant investment project since the construction of the Cherepovets Steel Mill began. The total capital expenditure for this project amounts to 116 billion rubles. The project aims to implement technology for producing high-quality steel with a low carbon footprint in the Vologda Region. The complex will significantly improve the environmental situation both in the city and at workplaces by changing the technological process of handling iron ore raw materials and pig iron production. At the site, equipment and metal structures installation continues, and preparations are underway for cold commissioning of the main technological equipment.
At the end of 2026, the company plans to begin commissioning and equipment testing at the new waste-heat power plant costing more than 10 billion rubles. Construction of the third power plant at the Cherepovets Steel Mill site is aimed at increasing electricity generation volumes through the utilization of blast furnace gas, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and atmospheric pollutants.
In 2026, Severstal will commence construction of a new continuous hot-dip galvanizing line in the rolling production at Cherepovets Steel Mill, with a cost exceeding 15 billion rubles. Commissioning of the line is scheduled for 2027.
Severstal is a regular participant in the SteelStructures and Metal-Expo exhibitions. This year, SteelStructures'2026 will take place on May 26–28 at the Timiryazev Centre in Moscow, while Metal-Expo'2026 will be held on November 10–13 at the Expoforum Exhibition Centre in Saint Petersburg.
